Well, we finally did it. After months of agonizing, Jean and I decided it was time to bite the bullet and downsize. After seventeen years in our house–a home and neighborhood we really liked–we came to know that the upkeep, the yard, and the garden were getting to be more than we wanted to deal with.
We put the house on the market in early spring and much to our surprise the house sold in two weeks. Boy, did we have to hustle. Between packing, overseeing repairs to items uncovered by the inspector and looking for a place to move it was a hectic few weeks. However, deciding what we could keep and what we had to dispose of gave us a rare opportunity to reflect on over 52 years of our life’s accumulated stuff and most of all the memories that far overshadowed the stuff.
We were lucky to soon find a condo that contained everything we could want or need.
Some of our stuff came with us and some didn’t, but all of our memories have fit in our new home just beautifully. And we can continue to reflect on all of them as we move on to new adventures.
